The first gruesome reports surfaced last Sunday. Doctors examining the bodies of the victims of the terrorist assault upon Mumbai discovered evidence that before death, there may have been torture.

Mumbai was not the only bleeding city last week. In Jos, Nigeria, located in the heart of what is called the “middle belt”, violence between Christian and Muslim mobs protesting what they said were rigged local elections resulted in 400 people dead and 7,000 more displaced.
“They apparently feel that there isn’t a single problem that can’t be addressed by inflicting mass suffering on innocent civilians.” So says the inimitable John Oliver. For some reason I cannot fathom, I’m not able to embed the video, but you can watch it here, courtesy of David Adler.
This just about says it all.
With every episode of unremitting terror, there invariably is a story of remarkable courage. Sandra Samuel, nanny to toddler Moshe Holtzberg, whose parents Gavriel and Rivka were killed during the siege of Chabad’s center in Mumbai, is someone who should make the rest of us feel very humble.
As the death toll continues to rise from today’s terrorist carnage in Mumbai, several news reports, invariably using the qualifier “previously unknown group,” have identified the Deccan Mujahideen as being responsible for the slaughter.
