A couple of weeks ago, MJ Rosenberg wrote a rather pompous piece chiding AJC for our new film on Iran.
As the creator of the film, I can categorically state that I wasn’t joking about anything contained within - not the bombing of the AMIA center, not the appalling repression which Iran metes out to its citizens, not the vile public executions which the regime revels in, and certainly not the spectacle of a nuclear attack launched by the mullahs. By contrast, Hugo Chavez finds this latter prospect deeply amusing. I trust that MJ Rosenberg, political commentator and now, apparently, film maven, will be preparing an equally stern lecture for the tyrant of Caracas.
YouTube would appear to have acknowledged its error in pulling the new AJC film on Iran by reinstating the link. So here it is again. Hopefully, this time, it will stay there.
UPDATE, SEPTEMBER 22: Our video - which showed scenes of executions in Iran - has been censored by YouTube following false accusations that we violated its “community guidelines.” You can now see the video here- a safe domain which cannot be touched by the Iranian regime and its craven apologists.

Swedish journalist Mats Skogkär has an intelligent piece on Foreign Policy about what he regards as the deeper significance of the Aftonbladet scandal. “To Israelis, Sweden seems destined to misunderstand their predicament,” he writes. “Tucked between Finland, Norway, and Denmark, Sweden has the friendliest neighbors in the world. Israel has the world’s most hostile and resentful. There is a Swedish no-doubt-about-it conviction that differences, however deep and old, always can be settled in negotiations.”

My colleagues at the Washington, DC office of the American Jewish Committee have started a fund to help the family of Stephen T. Johns, the security guard murdered during Wednesday’s gun assault by white supremacist James Von Brunn on the Holocaust Memorial Museum.

Antisemitism was a prominent focus of the American Jewish Committee’s Annual Meeting in Washington, DC. Among the speakers were John Mann, the British MP who has spearheaded the global parliamentary fight against antisemitism, and Bernard-Henri Lévy, the French author and philosopher who has never lost sight of the centrality of antisemitism in his dissection of Islamism and its related ills.
Mindful of his audience, Mann declared: “Let me quote from Rosa Parks: ‘As I got up on the bus I saw that there was only one vacancy, so this was the seat that I took.’ This world and past generations are full of Rosa Parks. People going about their everyday business quietly and with dignity. But people not prepared to be bullied and cowered and intimidated. No doubt a little scared, but those who do their bit by doing what is right.”

I have never pictured AJC, the organization which sponsors Z Word, and where I proudly work, as being driven by a particularly American Jewish “psychopathology;” nor have I ever been aware that AJC actively colludes with those who seek to wipe Israel out of existence; nor did I know that my colleagues would sit happily in the same room as those who would deny the Holocaust in which six million Jews, including members of my own family, were exterminated.
AJC, which publishes Z Word, has started a new blog featuring news, views and commentary as the Durban Review Conference in Geneva approaches. It’s called Durban II Countdown and is a must-read in the coming weeks.
