NYT Columnist Sees Reality of Jewish Power

Writing in the New York Times Charles M. Blow says that,

While Jews are only 2 percent of the United States population, their influence outweighs their proportion.

Well said, Charles. Perhaps you might like to devote your next column to saying what measures you  think ought to be taken to reduce Jewish influence. Limit Jewish participation in higher education? Make Jews who run for Congress pass a loyalty test? Make one non-Jewish vote count for two Jewish ones in swing states? The possibilities are endless.  (Via Phoebe)

only when the “disproportionate” influence of Jews was “dealt” with turned Germany or rather the Germans into a monster murder madhouse.

So please give me “disproportionate” influence of Jews galore, anytime, anywhere …

I just read the column and I think you are over reacting.

I agree with Michael W. Blow isn’t making any suggestions that there’s something wrong with Jewish influence on American elections - he’s pointing out that in certain states (like Florida), winning or losing the Jewish community can really influence the result of an election (for example, Obama running for reelection).

I’ve responded to the “overreacting” question over at my blog.

The other problem with this sort of argument is that the vast majority of Jews in the US vote democrat and always have.

Of course as we all know, anyone who disagrees with Obama is racist.

The tone of the article does not trouble me as much as the avalanche of ‘Jews have a disproportionate voice in American politics’comments it unleashed. Also troubling is the number of opinion pieces NYT has published lately, that, again, are not necessarily disturbing in themselves — see “The Lede” article about Wikepedia and Israel — but that supply a platform for anti-Zionist trolls. One can’t help but wonder if NYT is purposefully sending up trial balloons in order to shift public opinion.
