Your comment, except for the very first sentence, is not really related to the article. As for how the "pro-Israeli answer seems to be demonization" and "the same approach is tried with Norway", I have heard this claim repeatedly but not yet seen any proof.

In 2009 Norwegian newspapers had more mentions to Israel than to Afghanistan. As for the angle these articles take, what surveys have been conducted show that it is biased in favor of Palestine. This goes along well with the political situation in Norway where the government endorses the "Friends of Palestine" parliamentary group, which both outguns andn outnumbers the "Friends of Israel" of the opposition.

To the extent that anyone is conducting a smear campaign, it is influential and well connected segments of the Norwegian left-of-centre which is smearing Israel. As for FM Støre's claim of an Israeli smear campaign against Norway, I think it calls for an article of its own.

Interesting article, but it fails to confront the basis of Norwegian critiscism of Israel, mainly Gaza. Even the Christian Democrats are these days debating their continued support for Gaza due to the continued occupation of the West Bank and the siege of Gaza, leaving support of Israel mainly to anti-muslim forces. ANyone who reads the comment-section of Jerusalem Post will know wich forces I mean. The pro-Israeli answer seems to be demonization, as seen in Dershowitz calling Goldstone for "evil" today. The same approach is tried with Norway, and is rapidly making former supporters of Israel look on in disbelief as Lieberman and his hasbara teams continue to shoot themselves in both feet through wild accusations of anti-semitism.

Noga
I agree completely, this is something we Norwegians have to fix for ourselves. On the bright side, most Norwegians do not obsess with Israel, and Israel has much support. The political and media scene reflects lobbying power more than popular support.

Israel cannot cure the Norwegians from this sickness. Just as Jews cannot cure non-Jews of their antisemitism. There is a parallel in these two phenomena which speaks of more than just a coincidental correlation.
