I can't remember where I read it, but Anne Applebaum suggests the most powerful tool that can be deployed against Iran is putting pressure to bear for its egregious human rights policies, yet US funding for scrutineers has been cut.

As far as I know, Iran is not under a food-for-oil type regime, but I may be wrong. There are Chinese, European, and Russian firms that invest in Iran's oil, market, drill, and distribute it internationally. To the Mullah's eternal shame, they also refine it and sell it back to Iran for domestic consumption.

The last 8 years have shown where this has taken us ...

Food for oil deals happen all the time while the WTO sits at their Quorums and AGMs listed....

Food for oil programs in the past have no issue attached........

The issue at hand is susstainance......

so su stain is the key word........
