David T at Harry's Place has an amusing update:

"Garlasco Explains Why The US Kills So Many Civilians In Afghanistan"

http://www.hurryupharry.org/2009/09/11/garlasco-explains-why-the-us-kills-so-many-civilians-in-afghanistan/

Garaslsco thinks that in Afghanistan it's the Taliban who are responsible for civilian casualties:

"I don’t think people really appreciate the gymnastics that the U.S. military goes through in order to make sure that they’re not killing civilians,” Garlasco points out.

“If so much care is being taken why are so many civilians getting killed?” Pelley asks.

“Because the Taliban are violating international law,” says Garlasco, “and because the U.S. just doesn’t have enough troops on the ground. You have the Taliban shielding in people’s homes. And you have this small number of troops on the ground. And sometimes the only thing they can do is drop bombs.”"

Apparently to Nazi memorabilia collector Garlasco only Israel is guilty of "human rights abuses." Everyone else can be excused.

Or to translate Garlasco’s views into "Aryan talk:'

'if the enemy is a non European then he is guilty, but, if the non European enemy is also the enemy of the Jews then he is innocent by definition.'

Ergo, Taliban guilty, Hamas, Hezbollah not guilty.

From the link above:

"HRW assert that complaints about Garlasco are not motivated by heartfelt Jewish concern about Nazism, but rather because people want to take a cheap shot at them..."

So HRW doesn't want people to speculate about the motives of their resident Nazi badge collector but they feel free to speculate about the motives of those like who criticize their organization for hiring him.

It is HRW that needs to explain why they hired someone like Garaslco who posts on neo Nazi websites and not people who criticize their organization.

Bottom line is that HRW is not a legitimate human rights organization when it comes to the Arab Israeli conflict but partisan organization motivated by an anti-Israel bias. Their aims are political rather than moral and the Garalsco affair makes this clear.
