The second video is also an affirmation of people power. (The young people chase after a bunch of basijis who try to hide in a side street. “Tu kuche, tu kuche!” [in the alley, in the alley!] they yell to each other, and in the ensuing struggle, they even manage to grab hold of one of their helmets.
The whole situation is getting ugly and bloody. I’m really worried about friends and family. But at the same time, I’ve never seen the regime so vulnerable.
ganselmi, I talked today to my Iranian friends, who luckily live outside of Iran, though they still have plenty of family and friends there. I was just amazed at how stoic they were — it was something they had expected, and indeed hoped for, for a long, long time. They have no illusion that many Iranians will pay with their lives, but they are just so sure that this is the beginning of the end of the mullah regime. Frankly, as so often in the past, I’m afraid they are too optimistic. But I hope I’m wrong.

That pretty much describes how I feel. I’m so proud of what folks in Iran are doing. That said, when it comes to friends and family, I’m fearful too. (Perhaps more so than the people participating directly in the uprising.) These basiji savages and the imported thugs from Lebanon and PT are incredibly ruthless. This isn’t going to be easy.
