Ahmadinejad: “Racist! Racist!”

It’s a farce, it’s a shambles and it’s a disgrace. At the UN’s anti-racism parley, the world’s leading Holocaust denier stood up and launched a vicious stream of lies against Israel, Zionism and the Jewish people.

Some delegates applauded Ahmadinejad’s speech, many walked out - among them the ambassadors of France, Britain and Spain. Earlier, two Jewish student protestors disrupted Ahmadinejad’s invective with cries of “racist, racist!”

Perhaps it’s time to bring this conference to an end.

    So they walked out.

    What about those who stayed?

Whom were they applauding, btw, the thuggish speaker, or the people walking out?

Still, the antisemitic thug still got his vile message out.

I am glad Israel withdrew its ambassador from Switzerland which said that it was as neutral today as it had been during WW2.

of course, no latin american representative leave the room…

but, wasn’t it obvious that a UN conference on racism would become a conference against Israel with no REAL consecuences for racism victims?

I agree. I want a list of the countries that stayed in the room to hear that racist speech.

I want to know which states are pro-genocide.

I don’t buy Milliband’s explantion of why Britian went to the conference:

    “UN secretary-general slams Ahmadinejad”

Tovah Lazaroff , THE JERUSALEM POST

“Following Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s address at the United Nations anti-racism conference in Geneva, during which he called for the eradication of Israel, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon released on Monday a statement slamming Ahmadinejad’s cynical manipulation of the conference.”

    and later on:

“Miliband also used the platform to justify the presence of his country’s delegation at the conference, saying that while “we will not accept an event that degenerates into racism and intimidation,” there is danger in leaving “the international stage only to those, like President Ahmedinejad, who would take global efforts against racism backwards.”

This isn’t a list - but the video is dramatic (AM in his vile glory, the protesters, the walkouts, the applause, the heckling). Courtesy of JTA.

Has anyone seen this surreal article in the NY Times by By NEIL MacFARQUHAR about the speech?

“Mr. Ahmadinejad, who seems to take visible delight in his diatribes against Israel and denying events like the Holocaust because it so irks Iran’s opponents, brought the contention roaring back to the fore. He was the only head of state to attend.”

How does he know that Ahmadinejad says that the Holcaust is a myth because it irks “Iran’s opponents?”

How does he know that he doesn’t believe it himself?

I have to say I am happy with the number of boycotts and the walk-outs during Ahmadinejad’s speech. In the lead up to the conference, I was worried that the US and Israel would be the only nations staying away. But the turn of events renewed my faith in the Western world.
