Right at this moment 5000 demonstrators are marching in protest against the Sweden-Israel matches of the Davis Cup being played in Malmö, Sweden. Among the marchers are not only politicians Leif Ohly from Vänstre (Swedish for "Left", a political party) and Per Garthon (Moderates), but also neo-nazis and members of the AFA (Antifascist Action).

Media in Norway, which only some weeks ago managed to report on "Israeli chemist charged for selling cyanide to Westbank Palestinian", is not reporting on the events unfolding in Malmö right now.

Tennis: the Sweden-Israel match in Malmö this weekend will play without an audience to threats. A large demonstration will be arranged to stop even this spectatorless match. The march is backed by the social democrats, but the Swedish Neo-nazis want to participate in it to. For an article in Swedish: http://www.aftonbladet.se/nyheter/article4566723.ab

[...] Z-Word’s Ben Cohen examines what this means for Israeli sports. Another interesting question is, why the sudden support for Israel around the world? Just a few weeks ago, Israel was being vilified for its attack on Gaza. Suddenly Dubai is being pressured to allow Israelis in its territory. Perhaps this is because the visa refusal is seen as an anti-Semitic act and not an anti-Israeli one? Explore posts in the same categories: News [...]
