The US government yesterday gave its approval for Israel to buy 25 F-35 Joint Strike Fighter aircraft. Writing in the Spanish newspaper El Mundo, Sal Emergui speculates about there being some relation between the sale and a possible attack on Iran.
While yesterday’s reports about the approval of the sale didn’t mention a delivery date, previous ones talked of 2012 at the earliest. And even after the first planes are delivered it’ll take some time for the first squadron equipped with them to become operational.
So the F35’s role in any conflict that should break out between Iran and Israel in the next four years is very likely to be nil.
