Cluster Munitions That Work

Israel, not before time, is switching from the cheap and nasty imported cluster munitions which have caused such problems for civilians in south Lebanon, to domestically produced alternatives which come closer to working as they are supposed to.

As Oliver Kamm says in a piece about the foolishness of banning such weapons,

Cluster munitions are dangerous when they don’t work as planned, i.e. they don’t explode and then pose a danger if civilians disturb them later. Land mines are dangerous when they do work as planned.

Yes, I know about the existence of runway denial weapons with delayed fuses but they were not a relevant factor in the 2006 Israel-Lebanon War and their use constitutes an even more infinitesimally small risk to civilians than other cluster munitions.
