Muzzle Watch

Censored - Click to view

Can you talk honestly about the Middle East in America? Can you describe what happens in the region, day by day? Can you freely express an opinion, without fear that someone will muzzle you?

John Mearsheimer, Arun Gandhi, Tony Judt and more will tell you that you can’t, because the “Israel Lobby” controls the discourse. A fashionable theory, and one which European liberals are amenable to - only, it’s just a tad inaccurate.

Go and watch this American Jewish Committee video to find out why.

And if you’re suitably offended by this example of discourse control, go here next.

You might even want to keep an eye on this outfit, in the expectation that they will report the muzzling of AJC. Although don’t hold your breath.

Most importantly of all, you might - and hopefully will - want to help the people of Sderot.

How odd, Z supplies a link to MuzzleWatch, claims they won’t report the “muzzling” of the AJC ad, yet the very link they supply leads to MuzzleWatch’s report on the incident. “The ad should have been accepted,” says MuzzleWatch in part, and a link to the ad is supplied as well.

Despite the “CENSORED” stamped across the pic of the AJC broadcaster, no censorship was involved. AJC remains perfectly free to run their ad on whatever venue cares to accept it. That one radio station declined is not evidence of censorship. No one is obligated to run any and all ads that wish to run on one’s station.

Indeed they did Grif - but they did so today, one day AFTER we posted it, so it doesn’t take a huge amount of imagination to see the connection. Still, I’m not complaining; their overall message is that the ad should have run.

The wider point is that we provided a cast-iron example of how AJC was censored. I have yet to see Mearsheimer, Walt and Judt do the same.
